Mount Gay unveils The Cognac Cask Expression – the eighth captivating release in the Master Blender Collection. Aged entirely in ex-Cognac casks from the historic house of Rémy Martin, this single-batch rum is a bold 58% ABV tribute to craftsmanship, tradition, and innovation.
Crafted by Master Blender Trudiann Branker, it unfolds with aromas of red fruit, vanilla, leather, and orange zest, leading to a palate of cherry, salted caramel, brown sugar, and oak. Refined in Barbados’ tropical climate, just 6,276 bottles exist worldwide.
Launched on Tuesday 27 May at Mount Gay Distillery in St Lucy, Mount Gay’s Managing Director Antoine Couvreur praised the new release as “surprisingly elegant,” highlighting the subtle depth contributed by the cognac cask finish and the balance achieved through Branker’s expert blending.
Minister Ryan Staughn also spoke at the event. He said rum exports from Barbados now total approximately $100 million, with a goal of pushing that much higher to over USD $1 billion by 2030.
