For the first time, Barbados will host the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association's (CHTA) Caribbean Travel Marketplace.

The location for the 41st event has just been announced, and the CHTA president Nicola Madden-Greig said:

“CHTA has a very strong relationship with both public and private sector stakeholders in Barbados, and as we position the region’s top earner for robust growth this year, we are delighted to lock arms with our Bajan partners to drive business to the Caribbean.”

The event which will take place at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre in Bridgetown from 9-11 May 2023, brings together buyers and sellers of the Caribbean's tourism products and services.

The last event, in Autumn 2022, took place in Puerto Rico. A highlight from last year's event was the launch of the 'Caribbean Travel Forum & Awards', and Barbados will host the second edition this year, on 9 May, ahead of the opening of the Caribbean Travel Marketplace. Once again, the forum will focus on the business of tourism, with business appointments taking place on 10 and 11 May.

Barbados tourism and international transport minister Ian Gooding-Edghill said the island’s tourism industry was undergoing a major post-Covid renaissance and the timing could not be better to host the Caribbean Travel Marketplace:

“We are honoured to host such a pre-eminent gathering of tourism stakeholders from around the world”
