The shift from traditional mobility choices to lower-carbon solutions – which at Inchcape we call the mobility transition – is unfolding at different speeds worldwide. Each market has its own infrastructure, geography, consumer expectations and economic realities. What works in a major European city may not work in a small island developing state. Inchcape’s role is not simply to introduce new technologies, but to deliver the mobility transition locally, in a way that responds to the needs of each market we serve.

A Global Company with a Local Mission

Inchcape is the world’s leading independent automotive distributor. We operate in more than 40 markets worldwide and partner with some of the world’s most respected automotive manufacturers. We connect these global brands with local consumers – combining advanced data analytics, supply chain expertise and deep local market knowledge to build strong automotive ecosystems.

In Barbados, that means understanding the realities of driving on a small island: shorter travel distances, varied road conditions, growing energy ambitions and an increasing public interest in sustainability. It also means recognising that consumers are at different stages of their journey towards electrified mobility. So our goal is not to just introduce electric vehicles, but to help drivers navigate their options and make an informed choice that’s right for them.

Supporting Barbados’ Sustainability Goals

Barbados has positioned itself as a regional leader in climate action and sustainable development. The island’s national energy policy sets ambitious targets for renewable energy and carbon neutrality that requires buy-in across multiple sectors, including the automotive industry.

Road transport represents a significant share of global carbon emissions, and the shift toward electrified mobility is inevitably an important component of Barbados’ sustainability journey. The adoption of electric and hybrid vehicles can help reduce reliance on imported fossil fuels, lower emissions, and support the broader energy transition as renewable electricity capacity grows.

Sustainability is central to how Inchcape operates, and underpins our Accelerate+ strategy. For Inchcape Barbados, supporting the country’s goals means introducing vehicles and technologies that make sense for the Barbadian market today – while also preparing the ecosystem for the future.

Charged – The Future of Mobility

In March 2026, Inchcape Barbados hosted a special launch event, Charged – The Future of Mobility, where we introduced a diverse fleet of Hybrid, REEV (range-extended electric vehicle), and Fully Electric technologies across five new models, specifically curated to match Barbados’ unique terrain and infrastructure. The new lineup includes:

●      Deepal Hunter (REEV): The world’s first range-extended electric pickup, combining rugged utility with long-range capability.

●      Deepal S05 (EV): A high-tech SUV blending futuristic design with smart driving features.

●      Suzuki Across (Hybrid): A premium, sporty SUV offering electrification without major lifestyle changes.

●      Suzuki e VITARA (EV): Suzuki’s first global strategic electric SUV, bringing legendary reliability to the EV segment.

●      Jeep® Avenger (EV): The award-winning, compact electric SUV designed for the modern urban explorer.

Interest in sustainable mobility is at an all-time high, and so we’re the public to explore the new options. The Inchcape showroom now features side-by-side demonstrations and a dedicated team of experts to help drivers understand which technology – Hybrid, REEV, or Full Electric – best fits their lifestyle.

At a time when mobility is evolving rapidly, our goal is to help customers understand what these vehicles can offer in real-world conditions,” said Justin Inniss, Commercial Retail Director at Inchcape. “This launch reflects our commitment to giving Barbadian drivers more choice, more clarity, and more confidence as they explore electrified options.”

Beyond introducing new models for consumers in Barbados, this is about enabling a transition – one that is practical, informed and grounded in the realities of Barbados.
