The Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) officially launched its 200th Anniversary Celebrations today with a commemorative media launch held at the Hilton Barbados Resort. This milestone marks two centuries of unwavering service to the business community and national development.
The event featured a ceremonial proclamation and scroll presentation and the unveiling of a year-long calendar of celebratory events. Addressing an audience of business leaders, key stakeholders, and media professionals, BCCI President, Paul Inniss emphasized the Chamber’s historic role as a driver of economic progress and its renewed commitment to shaping the future of commerce in Barbados.
"This year, we prepare to mark 200 years since the founding of this venerable institution. That is not just a milestone, it is a monument to endurance, resilience, and relevance. Since 1825, the BCCI has stood as a pillar of our national development, evolving with the times, shaping policy, and championing the private sector through periods of transformation, uncertainty, and opportunity. The world of business is changing at an unprecedented pace, and the Chamber must not only adapt, but it must also lead. This is why the BCCI’s Strategic Action Plan for 2025-2026, is so important. It is a bold and forward-thinking blueprint designed to elevate our relevance, amplify our collective voice, and deepen our national and regional impact,” the BCCI President stated.

In the spirit of We Gatherin’, the BCCI made a call on the entire business community; past, present, and future to unite in celebration and purpose. Executive Director Misha Lobban-Clarke introduced the Chamber’s 2025 theme, “Collaborate. Advocate. Innovate.”, emphasizing the importance of collective effort as the Chamber continues to drive economic growth and national transformation.
Misha Lobban-Clarke also extended an invitation to all stakeholders “to walk with us on this journey as we reflect on our legacy and shape a bold, forward-thinking future. Now more than ever, it is time for the business community to gather, support one another, and amplify our shared vision for Barbados.”
Betty Brathwaite, Co-Chair of the 200th Anniversary Committee, proudly announced the launch of the BCCI Bicentennial Awards, a major highlight in the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s 200th anniversary celebrations. As part of the commemorative year, a series of signature events will be held, including a prestigious Gala, Mix & Mingle networking events, a public lecture series, community health outreach programs, and visits to schools across the island.
This bicentennial celebration serves as both a tribute to the past and a call to action for the future — engaging the private sector, public partners, and the wider community in shaping the next era of Barbadian enterprise.
