The Rotary Club of Barbados West, in partnership with Diamonds International, is thrilled to announce the return of the highly anticipated Diamonds International Rotary West Golf Classic. This prestigious event, now in its 22nd year, will be held at Royal Westmoreland on Sunday, October 6th, 2024, continuing a long-standing tradition of service and community impact.
A press conference was held on Thursday, 12th September 2024 at Royal Westmoreland, featuring key speakers including Mr. Greg Hazzard, President of the Rotary Club of Barbados West; Mr. Horace Cobham, Director of Rotary Club of Barbados West; Mr. Jacob Hassid, Managing Director of Diamonds International; and Mr. Thomas Schofield, Golf Professional from Royal Westmoreland. Each speaker expressed their excitement and commitment to ensuring this year’s event will have a profound impact on the community.
It was also announced that this year’s tournament will feature Barbadian international cricketer Shamarh Brooks, who will lead a team in the event. Last year, renowned cricketer Jason Holder spearheaded a team, and his participation greatly contributed to the success and excitement of the event.
Since its inception, the tournament has raised a substantial figure of over $2.6 million for various causes, significantly contributing to the betterment of the Barbadian community.
Last year's tournament was a tremendous success, raising $90,000 in support of Rotary West’s mission of "Service Above Self." These funds enabled the club to make a significant difference in the lives of many, including:
- Healthy Breakfast Program: Providing nutritious meals to 30 needy students at Good Shepherd Primary School.
- Dyslexia Initiative: Upskilling teachers and providing scholarships to 15 children with dyslexia.
- Tertiary Education Scholarship Program: Supporting deserving students in their pursuit of higher education.
- Nature Fun Ranch: Assisting at-risk youth through positive, life-changing experiences.
Looking ahead, the Rotary Club of Barbados West has ambitious plans for its 2024-2025 program year
Proceeds from this year’s Golf Classic will be directed towards several key initiatives, including:
- Dyslexia Program: Continuing efforts to support children with dyslexia through education and scholarships.
- Ellen Steinbok Hearing Project: Providing essential hearing aids and support for those in need.
- Childhood Obesity Prevention Project: Promoting healthier lifestyles among children to combat obesity.
- Financial Literacy Project: Empowering individuals and communities with the knowledge to manage finances effectively.
The title sponsor, Diamonds International, has been a steadfast partner since the event’s inception. This year, they will once again host a reception for players and their guests, followed by the prize-giving ceremony. The continued support from Diamonds International has been crucial to the success of the Golf Classic.

We invite you to join us in celebrating this milestone by supporting the Diamonds International Rotary West Golf Classic, an event that truly makes a difference.
